چکیده

Five Ni-Cr alloys were studied in order to identify the compounds formed on the alloy surface during oxidation under conditions similar to those encountered during dental laboratory procedures prior to application ofporcelain. After the alloys were oxidized, the films covering the surfaces were removed with the aid of a Br-methanol solution. X-ray diffraction was used to analyze the compounds formed. Oxides of nearly all elements contained by the alloys were found after low-temperature (650 'Q oxidation, while NiO and particularly Cr203 were predominant after oxidation at high temperatures (1000 °C),

The Effect of Nickel Increasing and Aluminum Addition on Sulfidation Resistance of Fe-Ni-Cr Alloys (TECHNICAL NOTE)

In this research the effects of; increasing the amount of nickel and adding aluminum to create and prolong sulfidation resistance of Fe-Ni-Cr alloys have been investigated. Sulfidation tests were carried out at 1100°C in S/O bearing atmosphere. Prior to the tests, the specimens were annealed in argon at 1250°C for 8 hrs. Weight changes were measured and corroded deposits were analyzed byscannin...

Cr, Mo and W alloying additions in Ni and their effect on passivity

The passive corrosion properties of a series of Ni–Cr–Mo alloys were investigated. The alloys studied were C22, C2000, C276, C4 and 625. Potentiostatic experiments at potentials within the passive range were obtained as a function of temperature (25–85 ◦C) for each alloy. Each specimen was subsequently analyzed by time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (TOF SIMS) and X-ray photoelectron...

Effects of chemical composition on the corrosion of dental alloys.

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of the oral environment on the corrosion of dental alloys with different compositions, using electrochemical methods. The corrosion rates were obtained from the current-potential curves and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The effect of artificial saliva on the corrosion of dental alloys was dependent on alloy composition. Dissoluti...

Physico-mechanical properties and prosthodontic applications of Co-Cr dental alloys: a review of the literature

Cobalt-Chromium (Co-Cr) alloys are classified as predominantly base-metal alloys and are widely known for their biomedical applications in the orthopedic and dental fields. In dentistry, Co-Cr alloys are commonly used for the fabrication of metallic frameworks of removable partial dentures and recently have been used as metallic substructures for the fabrication of porcelain-fused-to-metal rest...

Effects of metal combinations on cytotoxicity evaluation using a dynamic extraction method.

The effects of metal combinations on cytotoxicity were examined following dynamic extraction by freely gyrating two spherical metals in a glass vessel. The cell viabilities of an Au alloy, a Ag-Pd-Au alloy and Ti were little affected by combinations among three metals. Cell viability ranged between 60 and 80% when precious alloys were in combination with Co-Cr or Ni-Cr alloys. Ti showed a clear...
